WS02 - ESPRE

1st Workshop on Evolving Security and Privacy Requirements Engineering - Monday, August 25, 2014

When specifying a system, security and privacy needs to be addressed as early as possible. Unfortunately, many people find doing so difficult in the face of conflicting priorities. When these concerns are addressed, we discover how intrinsically difficult specifying security and privacy can be, and the blurred distinction between requirements and security and privacy concepts. The Evolving Security and Privacy Requirements Engineering Workshop (ESPRE) will be a multi-disciplinary workshop that brings together practitioners and researchers interested in evolving security and privacy requirements engineering practice. ESPRE will be run as a one-day workshop, consisting of an invited talk, paper presentations and discussions, and a facilitated roadmap building session.

WS03 - MoDRE

4th International Model-Driven Requirements Engineering Workshop - Monday, August 25, 2014

The Fourth International Model-Driven Requirements Engineering (MoDRE) workshop continues to provide a forum to discuss the challenges of Model-Driven Development (MDD) for Requirements Engineering (RE). Building on the success of MDD for design and implementation, RE may benefit from MDD techniques when properly balancing flexibility for capturing varied user needs with formal rigidity required for model transformations as well as high-level abstraction with information richness. Reuse of requirements models becomes a distinct possibility with MDD and model transformations. This workshop intends to identify new challenges, discuss on-going work and potential solutions, analyze the strengths and weaknesses of MDD approaches for RE, foster stimulating discussions on the topic, and provide opportunities to apply MDD approaches for RE.

WS05 - REET

Workshop on Requirements Engineering Education & Training - Monday, August 25, 2014

Effective Requirements Engineering (RE) is increasingly recognized as a critical component in the success of software, product, service, and platform development projects. University curricula in multiple fields are beginning to address RE skills as a foundational skill set within their disciplines. Furthermore, many industrial organizations are recognizing the need to develop RE related training programs as part of their ongoing process improvement initiatives. Following the theme of RE'14, Innovation in and through Requirements Engineering, REET'14 elicits papers and presentations that offer innovative strategies or proposals to address some of the challenges in RE Education and Training. Given the breadth of industrial disciplines where RE is relevant, how are academic institutions addressing questions of curriculum and evaluation? Within industry, how might RE education and training be offered to practitioners who may be quite proficient in their primary disciplines but find themselves less confident when they must specify requirements for a project or product?

WS06 - UsARE

2nd International Workshop on Usability and Accessibility focused Requirements Engineering - Monday, August 25, 2014

Usability and accessibility issues are common causes for software failing to meet user requirements. However, requirements engineers often focus on functional requirements and may not fully elicit usability and accessibility requirements. This high risk practice can lead to project and software failure and it is well known that improving the usability and accessibility requirements during development is relatively costly and time consuming. Targeting these concerns, the UsARE 2014 workshop addresses the integration of system usability and accessibility requirements into the requirements engineering process and processes for managing and controlling the evaluation of these requirements in a systematic way. The UsARE 2014 workshop focus is on mobile and distributed app and service development.

WS08 - IWSPM

8th International Workshop on Software Product Management - Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Software product management (SPM) is an important discipline that unites both technical and business perspectives to creating software products. The success of a product depends on skilled and competent product management. In essence, a product manager makes strategic and tactical decisions on what functionality and quality a product should offer, to which customers, and at what time. IWSPM'14 aims at contributing to the body of knowledge for software product management in order to support the evolution of software product management as a scientific discipline and as a practical approach to management of software products. The workshop should also foster collaboration between academia and industry.

WS09 - RE4SuSy

3rd International Workshop on Requirements Engineering for Sustainable Systems - Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Research has started investigating the support of sustainability within systems and software engineering. Yet there are few workshops that explore the topic, and there is only one so far in requirements engineering: RE4SuSy. The International Workshops on Requirements Engineering for Sustainable Systems (RE4SuSy) have been held at REFSQ in 2012 and at RE in 2013. We want to continue this series back in Europe at RE'14. We plan an interactive workshop that engages with authors well before the deadlines and that produces new results already during the workshop and will promote them throughout the conference. This is also the take-off point for new collaborations between participants.

WS11 - RePa

4th International Workshop on Requirements Patterns - Tuesday, August 26, 2014

Getting requirements right is oftentimes challenging and in need of a large amount of knowledge and experience. "Patterns" have been used to capture knowledge of software engineering, concerning software architectures, component designs and programs, and more recently requirements engineering. The International Workshop on Requirements Patterns (RePa) workshop series was motivated by the desire to provide an open forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas and experience, to develop pattern-based approaches to capturing, organizing, and reusing of all aspects of requirements engineering-related knowledge, from both process and product perspectives. Building on the success of the previous three editions of the International Workshop on Requirements Patterns (RePa'11, RePa'12 and RePa'13), the overall aim of RePa'14 is to promote and support the development and sharing of patterns, tools, methods, and repositories to facilitate pattern-based reuse at the requirements level.

WS12 - RePriCo

5th International Workshop on Requirements Prioritization and Communication - Tuesday, August 26, 2014

RePriCo'14 is about requirements prioritization and communication. Why prioritization? Because unless you have unlimited resources you need to prioritize requirements in order to focus future development. Why communication? Because basically poor communication is responsible for the gaps between the real needs of the customers, the perception of these needs by the Requirements Engineer and the transformation of these perceptions into detailed requirement specifications. And why prioritization AND communication? Because prioritization comprises not merely the application of prioritization methods; above all it is a communication process between all relevant stakeholders to achieve a mutual understanding on the requirements to be realized. RePriCo'14 will serve as a platform for the presentation and discussion of new and innovative approaches to prioritization and communication issues in requirements engineering.

WS13 - RET

1st International Workshop on Requirements Engineering and Testing - Tuesday, August 26, 2014

The objective of this workshop is to address the interplay of Requirements Engineering (RE) and Testing, in research and industry, and the challenges that come up with it. The workshop extends the body of knowledge related to the alignment of RE and Testing. This includes processes, practices, artifacts, methods, techniques, tools and softer aspects like the communication between roles in the engineering process. The goal is to establish alignment of RE and Testing as a research area, provide a dedicated forum for exchanging ideas and best practices fostering industry-academia collaboration on this topic, and thereby connect the communities of RE and Testing. While much work has been done in the respective fields of Requirements Engineering and Testing, there exists much more that can be done to increase the connection between the RE and the Testing process.
